CVSS v3.1 |
| `_gx_binres_pixelmap_table_load()` in the GUIX binary resource (theme) loader indexes the pixelmap table with a value read verbatim from the resource file and never bounds it against the table size. A crafted theme drives a write of up to roughly 256 KB past the end of the table.
The overflowed buffer is allocated by GUIX itself, through `_gx_system_memory_allocator`, rather than supplied by the caller, so the loader corrupts its own arena. The public API `gx_binres_theme_load()` takes no size parameter, so no amount of caller diligence prevents this.
Reproduces in the shipped default configuration; `GX_BINARY_RESOURCE_SUPPORT` is enabled by default. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
of/overlay: only treat a positive changeset id as registered
of_overlay_fdt_apply() stores the idr_alloc() return value in
ovcs->id before checking it. On failure the stored id is negative,
free_overlay_changeset()'s "if (ovcs->id)" check passes, idr_remove()
is called with a negative id and list_del() runs on ovcs->ovcs_list,
which is not initialized until after the id allocation. An allocation
failure at that point dereferences NULL.
Make free_overlay_changeset() treat only a strict-positive id as
registered. The rest of the function already copes with a
partially-initialized ovcs, so the error path stays a plain
goto err_free_ovcs. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
rtc: ac100: Assign .num before accessing .hws
Commit f316cdff8d67 ("clk: Annotate struct clk_hw_onecell_data with
__counted_by") annotated the hws member of 'struct clk_hw_onecell_data'
with __counted_by, which informs the bounds sanitizer (UBSAN_BOUNDS)
about the number of elements in .hws[], so that it can warn when .hws[]
is accessed out of bounds. As noted in that change, the __counted_by
member must be initialized with the number of elements before the first
array access happens, otherwise there will be a warning from each access
prior to the initialization because the number of elements is zero.
This occurs in ac100_rtc_register_clks() due to .num being assigned only
after every clkout clock has been stored in .hws[]. With
CONFIG_UBSAN_BOUNDS and a compiler that implements __counted_by (GCC
15.1+ or Clang 20.1+), this triggers an array-index-out-of-bounds report
during probe, and with CONFIG_UBSAN_TRAP the first store traps.
Initialize .num with AC100_CLKOUT_NUM, the number of elements .hws[] was
allocated with, right after the allocation. That is the value the loop
counter ends up at on the success path anyway, so the provider's
behaviour is unchanged. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
usb: typec: tipd: fix uninitialized typec_partner_desc in tps6598x_connect()
tps6598x_connect() passes a stack-allocated typec_partner_desc to
typec_register_partner() after initializing only usb_pd, accessory and
identity.
typec_register_partner() copies attach and deattach from the descriptor
into the partner. With those fields left unset, garbage function pointers
may be stored and later invoked from typec_partner_link_device() when a USB
device is linked to the port. Uninitialized pd_revision and usb_capability
similarly leak stack data through partner sysfs.
Zero-initialize the descriptor so optional callbacks remain NULL and the
remaining fields are zero. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ASoC: codecs: rt1017-sdca-sdw: fix uninitialized stream_config->type
stream_config is not initialized before being passed to
sdw_stream_add_slave(). The type field may contain garbage and is
later copied to stream->type by sdw_config_stream().
Zero-initialize stream_config so type defaults to SDW_STREAM_PCM.
While at it, use snd_sdw_params_to_config() helper instead of
open-coding the same logic. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
scsi: qla2xxx: Zero dport diagnostics buffer to avoid info leak
qla2x00_do_dport_diagnostics() allocates the qla_dport_diag response
buffer with kmalloc_obj() (non-zeroing) and, on success, copies the full
sizeof(*dd) back to user space via sg_copy_from_buffer(). The inbound
sg_copy_to_buffer() only fills as many bytes as the user request payload
provides, and qla26xx_dport_diagnostics() zeroes only dd->buf. The
options and unused[] fields are therefore copied out uninitialized,
leaking kernel heap contents to user space.
Allocate with kzalloc_obj(), matching qla2x00_do_dport_diagnostics_v2(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amdkfd: Fix the case that vm range is hole at svm_migrate_copy_to_vram
When migration vm range is hole at cpu side(MIGRATE_PFN_MIGRATE set +
MIGRATE_PFN_VALID unset) driver still allocates device pages. There is no
dma map of src pages and migration. j is 0 and svm_migrate_copy_memory_gart()
will return an uninitialized r. That can trigger out_free_vram_pages to drop
all VRAM just set up.
Initialize r and only call the last svm_migrate_copy_memory_gart if j > 0.
Current code postponed the last page to the final copy. This patch flushes on
the last page when reach to the end of current drm_buddy_block; avoids another
svm_migrate_copy_memory_gart. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/bnxt_re: Initialize dpi variable to zero
dpi is initialized only for BNXT_RE_ALLOC_WC_PAGE, but copied
for all the cases. So initialize the dpi to 0. |
| The Web add-on's HTTP server dereferences and releases an uninitialized pointer when it detects a `Content-Length` underflow while processing a `PUT` request. The condition is reachable by an unauthenticated remote client with a single malformed request. |
| Uninitialized memory in the Audio/Video: cubeb component. This vulnerability was fixed in Firefox 158.0.1 and Thunderbird 158.0.1. |
| Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 9.1.0 until 13.0.0, Pillow can disclose uninitialized stack memory when Image.quantize() uses an empty palette. ImagingPaletteCacheUpdate() leaves a local cache array uninitialized when the palette has zero entries, and the conversion path emits those bytes as output pixel indices. An attacker who controls the palette image can obtain stack contents from a returned PNG or GIF. This can disclose addresses and stack-canary data without an out-of-bounds access, memory corruption, or process crash. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0. |
| An uninitialized memory issue was addressed with improved memory initialization. This issue is fixed in iOS 26.7 and iPadOS 26.7, iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, macOS Golden Gate 27, macOS Sequoia 15.8, macOS Tahoe 26.7, tvOS 27, visionOS 27, watchOS 27. Processing a maliciously crafted image may result in disclosure of process memory. |
| Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 10.0.0 until 13.0.0, Pillow can free an invalid glyph pointer during FreeType rendering with an active stroker. If FT_Load_Glyph fails, cleanup may call FT_Done_Glyph on an uninitialized or stale glyph variable. An attacker can supply a malformed font as untrusted bytes to an application that draws text with a nonzero stroke width, forcing the glyph-load failure path. This can corrupt memory or crash the process. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ipvs: reset full ip_vs_seq structs in ip_vs_conn_new
Commit 9a05475cebdd ("ipvs: avoid kmem_cache_zalloc in
ip_vs_conn_new") changed ip_vs_conn_new() to allocate an ip_vs_conn
object with kmem_cache_alloc(). The function then initializes many
fields explicitly, but only resets in_seq.delta and out_seq.delta in the
two struct ip_vs_seq members.
That leaves init_seq and previous_delta uninitialized. This is normally
harmless while the corresponding IP_VS_CONN_F_IN_SEQ or
IP_VS_CONN_F_OUT_SEQ flag is clear. For connections learned from a sync
message, however, ip_vs_proc_conn() preserves those flags from
IP_VS_CONN_F_BACKUP_MASK and passes opt=NULL when the message omits
IPVS_OPT_SEQ_DATA. In that case the new connection can be hashed with
SEQ flags set but with the rest of in_seq/out_seq still containing stale
slab data.
When a packet for such a connection is later handled by an IPVS
application helper, vs_fix_seq() and vs_fix_ack_seq() use
previous_delta and init_seq to rewrite TCP sequence numbers. A malformed
sync message can therefore make forwarded packets carry stale slab bytes
in their TCP seq/ack numbers, and can also corrupt the forwarded TCP
flow.
Reset both struct ip_vs_seq members completely before publishing the
connection. This matches the existing "reset struct ip_vs_seq" comment
and keeps the sequence-adjustment gates inactive unless valid sequence
data is installed later. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
nexthop: initialize extack in nh_res_bucket_migrate()
nh_res_bucket_migrate() passes an uninitialized netlink_ext_ack to
call_nexthop_res_bucket_notifiers(). When
nh_notifier_res_bucket_info_init() fails (e.g. the kzalloc returns
-ENOMEM), the error is propagated back before any notifier sets
extack._msg, and the error path formats the stale pointer with
pr_err_ratelimited("%s\n", extack._msg). With CONFIG_INIT_STACK_NONE
this dereferences uninitialized stack memory:
Oops: general protection fault, probably for non-canonical address ...

rtnetlink_rcv_msg (net/core/rtnetlink.c:7076)

Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception
Zero-initialize extack so _msg is NULL on error paths that never set it. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netfilter: ebtables: zero chainstack array
sashiko reports:
looking at ebtables table
translation, could a sparse cpu_possible_mask lead to an uninitialized pointer
free?
If cpu_possible_mask is sparse (for example, CPU 0 and CPU 2 are possible,
but CPU 1 is not), the allocation loop skips CPU 1. If vmalloc_node() fails at
CPU 2, the cleanup loop will blindly decrement and call vfree() on
newinfo->chainstack[1].
Not a real-world bug, such allocation isn't expected to fail
in the first place. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amdgpu: zero-initialize GART table on allocation
GART TLB is flushed after unmapping but not after mapping. Since
amdgpu_bo_create_kernel() does not zero-initialize the buffer, when a
single PTE is written the TLB may speculatively load other uninitialized
entries from the same cacheline. Those garbage entries can appear valid,
and a subsequent write to another PTE in the same cacheline may cause the
GPU to use a stale garbage PTE from the TLB.
Fix this by calling memset_io() to zero-initialize the GART table with
gart_pte_flags immediately after allocation.
Using AMDGPU_GEM_CREATE_VRAM_CLEARED, SDMA-based clear will not work
since SDMA needs GART to be initialized to work.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
batman-adv: tp_meter: avoid use of uninit sender vars
batadv_tp_recv_ack() and batadv_tp_stop() are only valid for tp_vars in the
BATADV_TP_SENDER role. When called with a BATADV_TP_RECEIVER role, it
proceeds to read sender-only members that were never initialized, leading
to undefined behavior.
This can be triggered when a node that is currently acting as a receiver in
an ongoing tp_meter session receives a malicious ACK packet.
Guard against this by checking tp_vars->role immediately after the
lookup and bailing out if it is not BATADV_TP_SENDER, before any of
those members are accessed. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ceph: add a bunch of missing ceph_path_info initializers
ceph_mdsc_build_path() must be called with a zero-initialized
ceph_path_info parameter, or else the following
ceph_mdsc_free_path_info() may crash.
Example crash (on Linux 6.18.12):

kernel BUG at mm/slub.c:634!
Oops: invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] SMP NOPTI
RIP: 0010:__slab_free+0x1a4/0x350
Some of the ceph_mdsc_build_path() callers had initializers, but
others had not, even though they were all added by commit 15f519e9f883
("ceph: fix race condition validating r_parent before applying state").
The ones without initializer are suspectible to random crashes. (I can
imagine it could even be possible to exploit this bug to elevate
privileges.)
Unfortunately, these Ceph functions are undocumented and its semantics
can only be derived from the code. I see that ceph_mdsc_build_path()
initializes the structure only on success, but not on error.
Calling ceph_mdsc_free_path_info() after a failed
ceph_mdsc_build_path() call does not even make sense, but that's what
all callers do, and for it to be safe, the structure must be
zero-initialized. The least intrusive approach to fix this is
therefore to add initializers everywhere. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
mm/page_alloc: clear page->private in free_pages_prepare()
Several subsystems (slub, shmem, ttm, etc.) use page->private but don't
clear it before freeing pages. When these pages are later allocated as
high-order pages and split via split_page(), tail pages retain stale
page->private values.
This causes a use-after-free in the swap subsystem. The swap code uses
page->private to track swap count continuations, assuming freshly
allocated pages have page->private == 0. When stale values are present,
swap_count_continued() incorrectly assumes the continuation list is valid
and iterates over uninitialized page->lru containing LIST_POISON values,
causing a crash:
KASAN: maybe wild-memory-access in range [0xdead000000000100-0xdead000000000107]
RIP: 0010:__do_sys_swapoff+0x1151/0x1860
Fix this by clearing page->private in free_pages_prepare(), ensuring all
freed pages have clean state regardless of previous use. |
